What Is BECE Success?
BECE Success is our structured path for JSS 1–3 students to master every subject they need for the Basic Education Certificate Examination – aligned with the Lagos State Unified Scheme, the Nigerian National Curriculum, and international benchmarks from the UK (Key Stage 3) and US middle school frameworks.
English Studies
Builds reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Students learn comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, summaries, letters and essay writing for clear communication.
Mathematics
Develops logical reasoning, critical thinking, and the ability to understand the world through numbers, patterns and structures. Students learn to analyse situations, solve problems creatively, and recognise relationships that explain how things work in real life.
Computer Science
Builds digital literacy and problem-solving skills through typing, basic computer operations, internet use, introductory coding concepts and responsible use of technology for learning and everyday life.
Basic Science
Introduces living and non-living things, the human body, energy, matter, environment and simple scientific investigations to build curiosity and scientific thinking.
Basic Technology
Covers simple machines, drawing, materials, basic electricity and everyday technology, preparing students for technical subjects and STEM careers.
Agricultural Science
Teaches crop production, animal husbandry, soil, farm tools and environmental care, helping students understand food systems and agriculture in Nigeria.
Business Studies
Introduces entrepreneurship, simple bookkeeping, office practice, marketing, keyboarding and wise consumer habits to develop business awareness from early years.
Home Economics
Builds everyday life skills – nutrition, meal planning, food preparation, clothing and textiles, hygiene and wise consumer habits for healthy living.
Physical & Health Education
Promotes fitness, sports skills, teamwork, safety, first aid and knowledge of the human body, encouraging lifelong healthy habits and active living.
History
Explores Nigeria’s past – ancient kingdoms, colonial rule, independence, governance and global events – to build identity, citizenship and critical thinking.
Cultural & Creative Arts (CCA)
Combines music, visual arts, crafts and cultural heritage. Students learn rhythm, singing, drawing, design, drama, and creative expression while exploring Nigerian traditions, festivals and artistic identity.
Christian Religious Studies (CRS)
Uses Bible stories and the teachings of Christ to build faith, integrity, love, forgiveness and responsible Christian living in everyday life.
Islamic Religious Knowledge (IRK)
Covers Qur’anic studies, pillars of Islam, hadith, Islamic history and daily worship, emphasising obedience to God, good character and service to others.
New Values Education (NVE)
Focuses on character, citizenship, rights and responsibilities, leadership, digital citizenship, anti-bullying and community service for whole-child formation.
French
Introduces basic communication in French – greetings, everyday expressions, core grammar, reading short texts and appreciating francophone cultures.
Yorùbá
Develops reading, writing and speaking in Yorùbá, including proverbs, oral literature, culture and translation to preserve language and heritage.
